Chapter 1: Introduction
1.1 Product Description
Adept Cobra ePLC600/ePLC800™ Robots
The Adept Cobra ePLC600 Robot and Adept Cobra ePLC800 Robot are four-axis SCARA robots
(Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm). See the following two figures. Joints 1, 2, and 4
are rotational; Joint 3 is translational. For a description of the robot joint locations, see Robot
Joint Motions on page 10.
The Adept Cobra ePLC600/800 robots require a user-supplied PLC for motion control. The
robots are programmed and controlled using the PLC. Mechanical specifications for the Adept
Cobra ePLC600/800 robots are provided in Technical Specifications on page 83.
NOTE:The descriptions and instructions in this manual apply to both the Adept
Cobra ePLC600 Robot and the Adept Cobra ePLC800 Robot, except for instances
where there is a difference, as in dimension and work envelope drawings. In those
cases the information is presented for both robots.
